Lead and Plug Repairs

A failed tag is only useful if something happens next. Most failures are a damaged plug top or a nicked cord, and most of those we fix on the spot before we leave your site.

Fixed while we are there

Replacement plug tops and sockets, re-terminated leads, cut-back and re-fitted cords where length allows, and replacement of failed powerboards. Doing it during the same visit means the item goes straight back into service tagged and compliant, instead of sitting in a corner with a fail tag on it for a month.

Custom extension leads

We manufacture braided extension leads to length in 10 amp and 15 amp, which is usually cheaper and considerably more durable than buying retail leads that will fail their next test. We also carry replacement stock for common leads and powerboards so we can swap out anything not worth repairing.

When it goes off site

Some repairs need a bench. Those items are removed, repaired, tested and returned promptly, and they stay on your report as out of service until they come back so your register is never showing something as compliant when it is in our van.

About lead and plug repairs

Is it cheaper to repair a lead or replace it?

For a damaged plug top on a good quality lead, repair almost always wins. For a lead with cord damage in the middle, or a cheap moulded lead that cannot be opened, replacement is usually the better call and we will say so.

Do you charge extra for repairs done during a test and tag visit?

Repairs are quoted separately from testing, but doing them during the same visit avoids a second call-out fee. We confirm any repair cost with you before we do the work.
